Dog Friendly Mackinac

There’s no better way to spend the day on Mackinac Island than with your favorite furry friend. Did you know that Mackinac was voted as one of the Top Ten Dog-Friendly Travel Destinations You Don’t Want to Miss by Parade Magazine? From outdoor patios made for basking in the sun to lodging accommodations fit for the whole family — including members with four legs — here’s our comprehensive guide to dog-friendly Mackinac.

Charlie, Mackinac Island's Most Popular Dog

If you’re looking for a not-to-be-missed event this Saturday, pull up a chair at the annual Dog & Pony Parade during the Mackinac Island Lilac Festival. Once a year, canines — and yes, there are a couple ponies as well — come dressed to impress. The parade begins on the boardwalk in front of the school at 11 a.m. and ends at Windemere Point. Presented by the Mackinac Island Dog & Pony Club.
