Watercolor Café is a little yellow house behind the Bay View B&B. On the outside it looks quaint and charming, the kind of place where you can see yourself drinking a morning coffee and gazing out into the water. It’s the perfect place to let inspiration come to you, to find a sense of peace — and a little caffeine to keep you going. Once inside you can see that the café is also home to events that let guests really activate their creative juices.
From crocheting to fun paintings of bike baskets, flowers, and island landmarks, the Water Color Café has just the right project for you — regardless of skill or experience. They even host sip and paint parties, where the wine is flowing and so are the paint brushes. Just remember, there is no wrong way to do something. It’s about the experience, not perfection.
By day, the café offers a short and sweet menu of soup, salads, sandwiches, toast, and baked goods. Basil lovers will find sanctuary in their Pesto Grilled Cheese and Salty Dog Toast and sweet-tooths should definitely spring for one of their Poppies — that’s part Pop Tart, part Pastry, 100% yum. In addition to regular coffee, cold brew, and hot tea, Water Color Café offers plenty of specialty beverages like Lilac Frappes, Toddy Lattes — made with steamed cold-brew — and a Golden Milk Latte made with fresh turmeric, ginger and cardamom for a spicy pick-me-up. Any choice is a great way to start your day on Mackinac Island, wherever it might take you. It’s clear that Watercolor Café isn’t afraid to think outside the box.
Would you take a chance on one of Mackinac Islands newest, fun businesses? We sure would!
