Island House Hotel during Derby Weekend

The Island House Hotel’s annual Derby Day Soiree is a festive kick off to the Mackinac Island summer season. Sip mint julips and look out the 1852 Grill Room’s floor-to-ceiling, waterfront windows, or take in the breeze from the patio. All of this while cheering on your choice of thoroughbred on your favorite equine-filled island via a live broadcast with music and commentary. Available in only limited quantities, the Island House Hotel is offering a package for Derby Weekend May 2 and May 3 which includes a one-night-stay, admission to the Derby Day Soiree, round-trip ferry tickets with luggage transfer, and access to all Island House Hotel amenities like the indoor pool, hot tub, sun deck, high-speed wifi, nightly bonfire, and porch seating.

Mother’s Day at The Grand Hotel

What better way to show your mom how much you care than a grand gesture at Mackinac Island’s one and only Grand Hotel. Unwind and spend some quality time together, taking in sweeping views of the Straits of Mackinac from the World’s Longest Front Porch. Don’t forget to let mom have some much need me time at Astor’s Salon and Spa. The Grand Hotel is a Mackinac staple, and we have no doubt that any mother or mother-figure on their special day would appreciate the Grand experience. Included in their Mother’s Day Package: full breakfast and dinner daily, the Grand Luncheon Buffet on Mother’s Day in the Main Dining Room, Friday evening welcoming reception, Saturday historical lecture by Grand Hotel Historian Bob Tagatz, and a Saturday evening Grand Cocktail Reception.

Harbour View Inn’s lilacs

Lilac’s were first brought to Mackinac Island over 200 years ago and are not actually native to the island — or anywhere in the Western Hemisphere for that matter. It was the Hubbard family that, like many other European immigrants who planted lilacs in New England, brought over the first seedlings that are now the largest and oldest stems in the country. The Mackinac Island Lilac Festival is a ten-day celebration of the island’s beautiful flora. It’s the first and largest summer event on Mackinac Island, attracting thousands of visitors every year. Book a room at the Harbour View Inn and take advantage of their sprawling grounds and spacious porch to get up close and personal with the fragrant beauties during this once-a-year, special event.

A Balcony Room at The Mackinac House

When the Bayview Mackinac Yacht Race comes to town, you’ll want a room with a view. Look no further than The Mackinac House, Mackinac Island’s newest and most fashionable boutique hotel. All of their room’s include amenities like walk-in showers, premium cotton sheets, a coffee maker and mini fridge. What you’ll really want during the yacht races are picturesque views of the water as boats whip around the island from one The Mackinac House’s balcony rooms on the hotel’s north-facing side.

Mission Point Resort during Mackinac Island’s Fudge Festival

On Mackinac Island there’s no fudging around when it comes to our unmistakable sweet treat of choice. Come during the annual Fudge Festival (August 27 to August 30) and immerse yourself in family fun events all weekend long. Mission Point Resort offers the perfect respite after a long day, located on the island’s picturesque sunrise side. You also probably won’t mind the scenic walk to get there, punctuated with waterfront views, after all a few extra steps might counter any of the day’s confectionary indulgences. Mission Point Resort’s property covers approximately 18 acres and also happens to be home to the Fudge Festival’s Corn Hole Competition. Our favorite part about Mission Point Resort is that it truly offers something for everyone in the family.
